In “Dave The Diver,” seahorses stand out as some of the smallest and most elusive creatures, presenting a unique challenge for new players attempting to catch them. This aspect of the game can lead to confusion and frustration, as the conventional methods used for larger fish often prove ineffective with these diminutive denizens of the deep. This blog post guide is dedicated to unraveling the mystery behind catching seahorses in the game, offering insights and strategies tailored to help players overcome this hurdle.
Can’t catch Sea Horse
The reason players find themselves unable to catch or interact with seahorses in “Dave The Diver,” despite visibly observing them swimming in the game, is intricately linked to the game’s progression system, specifically a requirement tied to a sub-mission in Chapter 2 named “Reticent Girl.” Within the narrative and gameplay structure, this sub-mission serves as a pivotal moment for acquiring a crucial tool for capturing these elusive creatures: the Bug Net.

The Bug Net, bestowed upon the player by a character named Maki, is essential for catching seahorses. Its importance is underscored by the fact that it is exclusively obtainable through this mission; it is not available for purchase from Duff, nor can it be found in chests scattered throughout the game’s world.

How To Get the Bug Net
To successfully catch seahorses in “Dave The Diver,” players must first complete a specific task initiated by Maki, a character who appears in your sushi bar during Chapter 2. Maki presents a culinary request that serves as a gateway to obtaining the Bug Net, an essential tool for capturing seahorses. This request is known as Maki’s Request, and it involves preparing a dish called Kombu and White Trevally Ochazuke. The recipe requires three ingredients: White Trevally, Soy Sauce, and Kelp.
For players who haven’t already acquired Soy Sauce and Kelp, both can be found within the Shallows area. Kelp is easily spotted as it stands freely underwater, while Soy Sauce can be obtained from red pots scattered in the same area. White Trevally, necessary for the dish, inhabits waters between 50 meters and 130 meters deep, just on the cusp of the Depths zone. It is identifiable by its medium size, distinctive yellow eye, and a yellow stripe running down its middle.
Upon gathering all the necessary ingredients, you must cook and serve the requested meal to Maki. Fulfilling this request rewards you with the Bug Net. This tool is indispensable for catching not only seahorses but also other elusive marine animals like Clione, which cannot be reached with the harpoon.
With the Bug Net in your possession, catching a seahorse is straightforward: approach a seahorse closely, and press the indicated button to catch it when the prompt appears. It’s worth noting that you need to be very close to a Seahorse for the catch option to become available, so patience is key if the prompt doesn’t show immediately. Captured seahorses automatically receive a three-star rating and can be utilized as ingredients just like any other catch. This method opens up new possibilities for ingredient collection and menu expansion in your sushi bar, enriching the gameplay experience.
